Every generation in the history of time has had its share of challenges cutting across all the areas of socio-economic, political and spiritual aspects of life. The God –fearing community at all these times has had to deliberately take up the challenge of standing out to be out to be different in order to please the master.
In Genesis 6:9 for example, the Bible says, ‘Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time’. Noah’s testimony of righteousness and upright standing was against the backdrop of a society that was wicked and one that angered God greatly (see same chapter v1-8) but Noah took up the challenge to be different in order to please and serve God in his wicked and corrupt generation.
Our generation is no different from Noah’s. There are lots of challenges and difficulties. In the midst of all these, how is it possible to be different from the world?
